SEMEN ANALYSIS

Semen Analysis:Typically, the first test for diagnosing male infertility is a semen analysis, which evaluates the volume of ejaculate, the concentration (or density) of sperm, and the sperm motility (movement) and morphology (shape).

SPERM CHROMATIN STRUCTURE ASSAY ( SCSA )

Sperm Chromatin Structure Assay ( SCSA ):The Sperm Chromatin Structure Assay (SCSA) is a diagnostic approach that detects sperm abnormality with a large extent of DNA fragmentation. It was first described by Evenson in 1980. The assay is a flow cytometric test that detects the vulnerability of sperm DNA to acid-induced denaturation DNA in situ. The SCSA can identify spermatozoa with abnormal chromatin packaging defined as susceptibility to acid-induced DNA denaturation in situ.

TESA TESE MESA PESA

TESA TESE MESA PESA:PESA, TESA and MESA are infertility treatments which involve surgical retrieval of sperm from the male partner. This line of treatment is useful for couples with severe male factor infertility and involves collection of sperm from the testicles using a needle or a small incision.

HISTORY AND PHYSICAL EXAMINATION

History and Physical Examination:At your initial fertility consultation, AFMC’s Male Infertility Specialists will review your medical history and conduct a basic physical exam to determine if lifestyle, medications, or genetic factors may be impacting fertility.

HORMONE BLOOD TESTS

Hormone Blood Tests:FSH, LH, Testosterone, and E2. Possible blood tests performed may include follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), testosterone total, and estradiol (E2). Testosterone level is quite important, as a low testosterone level may not only indicate low levels of sperm production, but may have significant implications for a man’s overall health.
